There seems to be a lot of confusion among insurers about Legal Entity Identifiers (LEIs) – what they are, why they’re important, and what companies need to do to comply with new regulations.
An LEI is a unique 20-digit identification code that is assigned to any legal entity that engages in financial transactions, either as a buyer or a seller. LEIs will help risk managers and regulators to identify parties to financial transactions quickly and accurately. The term "optimized" gets thrown around a lot these days. It seems every product on the market has been optimized for whatever use they claim it will perform. However, whether it's software or deodorant, I think we can all agree that just because a product has been “optimized” doesn't necessarily mean that it works the way you need it to.

As part of my blog series on “Medical Charts: Request Once, Use Many,” I highlighted the added expense associated with health insurance plans making repeated requests for the same medical chart or related documentation. But there are other reasons why a plan should focus on “request once, use many.” By re-using information instead of requesting new documents each and every time the information is needed, health plans will find improved provider satisfaction and, in turn, improved member satisfaction, not to mention improved HEDIS (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set) and CMS Star ratings.... read more
